‘Natural Resources, Climate and Biodiversity: Resilience Strategies for Sustainable Development’ is the title of a side-event hosted by Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the European Commission, UN Environment, and the International Resource Panel at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP24) in Katowice, Poland.

Panel member Hans Bruyninckx, Executive Director of the European Environment Agency, will speak about what the science is telling us about the links between natural resources, climate resilience and biodiversity.

Questions to be considered at the event, which runs from 14:00-15:00 in the German Pavilion on 13 December 2018, include:

  • Why is it important for countries to understand the connections between climate, natural resources and biodiversity?
  • How can policy makers address all three challenges in an effective manner?
  • What should the next generation of environmental policies consider when addressing climate change, unsustainable natural resource use and biodiversity loss?
